09:00am Start of our Wine and Tasting Odyssey !

11:00am Our journey will take us about 2 hours, to arrive at Kamkouti Winery, a small traditional, family run winery. Thomas, 4th generation member of the Kamouti family, continues the legacy of his ancestors by cultivating their vineyards in order to produce high quality wines. He will take us through the vines and the small cellar that holds the labour of his love for the winemaking art. Here as well as in the other winery, we will have the opportunity to taste the unique wine from Tsapournakos, an old local grape variety that belongs to the bigger family of Cabernet Franc.

12:00pm Only a 5 minute drive away is Ktima Voyatzi (ktima=estate), where we will arrive around noon. It is a beautiful modern building just above the lake, nestled in the middle of the vines. Mr. Yiannis Voyatzis is considered to be one of the most perceptive and intelligent winemakers who makes wines with typicity, precision and grace. In the 90’s he found the old local variety Tsapournakos which he revived with great success. Our walk around the winery will end at the spectacular wine tasting area that ‘floats’ over the lake!

01:30pm Driving through the village of Velvendo we will arrive around 1.30pm at the beginning of a paved path that will take us to Skepasmeno waterfall. We will walk under the perfect shade of beech trees by the water canal. After a 20min walk we reach a small plateau under the plane trees where we will stop at a wooden kiosk where we have a panoramic view of the waterfall.

03:00pm We will have our lunch in the middle of the picturesque village, where we will relish in tasting the local dishes accompanied by luscious local wines.

06:00pm Our journey will come to an end with our drive back to Thessaloniki.

Vineyard Kamkoutis

The 3rd and 4rth generation of Kamkoutis family continues to cultivate their own vines in order to produce wines, respecting history, values, nature and heritage.

This hilly and mountainous viticulturist area between the lake and the mountains has an exceptional microclimate; fertile and diverse soils formed from old geological sediments and good soil drainage. All these characteristics produce the high quality wines of PGI Velventos.

This charming small winery and the beautiful people will welcome you for a tour and tasting of their wines. We shall not forget to taste the excellent liqueur father Kamkoutis makes out of their grapes.

Ktima Voyatzi

The Voyatzis family enjoys a long heritage as wine merchants, documented since the early 20th century.

Members of a 3rd family generation; father, Harisis, along with his two sons Yannis and Nico, decided to return to Velvento and establish a new, privately owned vineyard. Yannis, has studied oenology at the University of Bordeaux, France and has substantial experience in Greek wine production. His brother, Nico, is an engineer. A modern 3-hectare vineyard was created by the lake designed to produce high-quality wines of a distinctive character. It was planted with local and other varieties during 1991-1994.

The winery itself, a lean and modern building, hosts the winemaking areas and our tasting will take place in a unique tasting room that literally floats over the vines and the lake.

A walk to Skepasmeno Waterfalls

We take a 20 minute stroll under the perfect shade of the beech and plane trees on a paved path by the canal, which was built by the locals in the '50s in order to irrigate their crops. We arrive at a plateau where the river runs at your feet! On the way back we will stop at the wooden kiosk with the panoramic view of the waterfall.
